EQ. Why is it important to learn another language.

Objective: Learn about the culture and history of Senegal, a former French colony. The island of Goree, near the capital Dakar was for centuries the principal point of departure of enslaved Africans for the Americas. Millions went through this "Door of No Return."

 Listen again to the first story: Bonjour ! Salaamaalekum ! 

Look at the maps of continents where French is spoken.

Homework: Read this Khan Academy Article on African societies and the beginning of the slave trade.
